In hodden grey or scarlet goon,

There is only one brick building in all of Aberdeen, and it is a crumbled and useless shell, stared down into submission and ruin by its innumerable hard-nosed, stiff-lipped granite neighbours.

Jonathan Meades says something similar to this in this documentary and it's SO worth watching.

Think I've watched Off Kilter about seven times by now. I'm starting to resent it because I have incorporated so much of it into my standard view.

Writing a piece about leaving Aberdeen, and how it's a test of character because there are so many cliches available about why it's a shit place, and so valuing it, as an outsider, really does say something amazing about you.
